Chrysler Group LLC' s marked its best performance in four years last
month, with an increase of 20 percent in its US new-vehicle sales. The
US automaker witnessed sales of 141,165 vehicles, against 117,225 in the
same month in 2011.
The company, controlled by Fiat SpA of Italy, sees the April annual
selling rate for the industry to reach 14.6 million vehicles, more than
the 14.4 million that Thomson Reuters' analysts estimated on the basis
of a survey. The selling rate would also top the March rate of 14.4
million.
Analysts believe that regardless of the rise in the sales in Q1, a pullback is likely later in the year. The sales went up on high fuel prices and warm weather.
